Never accept your age as a limitation of what you are capable of doing. The people featured in these interviews are not unique, they are dedicated. And that dedication is keeping them healthy, extremely active, and free of the chronic health issues that so commonly plague the American public.
The what: Age Is No Barrier is a periodic blog featuring 50+ athletes. Discussing the why’s and how’s of their training. How they are physically holding up, how they see themselves in terms of aging. What injuries they’ve endured, what medications they take or have stopped taking. What motivates them to push through when it would be so much easier to stay home, relax. “Netflix and chill”.
The why: curiosity. Looking for common motivations, perceptions, aging related issues. I’m a huge believer that Exercise is the very best medicine for most conditions. This is the prescription you take to prevent developing chronic issues in the first place. I’m hoping these interviews will give me evidence to support that belief.
My name is Andrew Graham. For the last 30 years, I have served the commercial fitness industry in various roles because long ago – a young, scrawny kid with bad allergies discovered that exercise is even better than medicine. (that phrase was borrowed from my friend Dr Amy Bantham) My wife and I recently followed our 20 year dream by moving to Colorado because….mountains. I often and accurately describe Colorado as a giant health club, because it seems that everyone is outdoors and active. The athleticism in this state is humbling and age just does not interfere with lifestyle. Being around so many 50+ athletes peaked my curiosity to hear the challenges and success from others, even those not fortunate enough to live in the mile high state. Thank you for joining me on this adventure and if you are also a 50+ athlete, let’s chat!
